Blocked Condensate Pipe and Failed Expansion Vessel Repair

SAFEXE LTD Gas, Plumbing & Heat Pumps recently carried out a heating system repair where the customer was experiencing problems with their boiler.

After investigating the system we identified several faults that were contributing to the issue.

The boiler condensate pipe and waste pipe were blocked which prevented the condensate from draining correctly. Condensate drainage is an important part of modern condensing boilers, and blockages can cause the boiler to shut down or operate incorrectly.

Alongside this issue the expansion vessel had failed. Expansion vessels are designed to accommodate pressure changes within the heating system as water heats and cools. When an expansion vessel fails it can lead to pressure fluctuations and operational problems within the system.

To resolve the issue we carried out the following work.

The blocked waste and condensate pipework was cleared and sections of pipework were replaced where necessary to ensure proper drainage.

A new expansion vessel was installed to restore correct pressure control within the heating system.

After completing the work the boiler and heating system were fully tested to confirm correct operation.

Heating system faults are often caused by several issues working together, which is why accurate fault diagnosis is essential before replacing components unnecessarily.
