This Viessmann boiler in Exeter was about 9 years old, and another company had told the customer it needed replacing. Before anyone spends a few thousand pounds on a new boiler, it’s worth finding out what’s actually wrong.
What we found
Two faults: a failed expansion vessel and a faulty hot water sensor. We replaced both, which got the boiler back to full working order.
While it was open, we gave it a full strip-down service: internal clean, gaskets replaced where needed, a gas tightness test, and a water quality test with an Adey ProCheck.
Repair or replace?
Not every fault means a new boiler. If a boiler is in decent condition and parts are available, a proper diagnosis and repair can cost a fraction of a replacement.
