We recently carried out a repair and partial repipe on an older underfloor heating manifold at a property in Exeter after the thermostatic mixing valve began leaking.

Underfloor heating manifolds control the circulation and temperature of water flowing through the floor heating circuits. On older systems the thermostatic mixing valve blends hot water from the heating system with cooler return water to maintain the correct temperature for the floor loops.

Over time these valves can wear out or begin to leak, which can lead to poor temperature control or water leaks around the manifold.

During this job we diagnosed the leaking mixing valve and carried out alterations to the manifold pipework in order to install a replacement valve and restore proper operation of the heating system.

Work carried out included:

• Diagnosis of leaking underfloor heating mixing valve

• Alteration and repiping of manifold pipework

• Installation of replacement thermostatic mixing valve

• Leak testing and system checks

• Verification of correct temperature control and circulation

Once the repair was completed the underfloor heating system was operating correctly again with the new valve providing proper temperature regulation to the floor circuits.

Older underfloor heating systems can continue working reliably for many years when components such as mixing valves, pumps and manifold parts are repaired or replaced when required.
