We have recently set up an air conditioning system in our own SAFEXE workshop.
The photo shows both units installed inside, which is intentional for this particular setup.
This is not how we would install a standard customer air conditioning system. On a normal installation, the outdoor unit would usually be positioned outside with correct airflow, clearances, condensate drainage and manufacturer requirements followed properly.
Our workshop setup is different because it has been designed as a working fault-finding, testing and training rig.
It allows us to get hands-on with air conditioning and air-to-air heat pump systems in a controlled environment, helping with diagnostics, commissioning checks, controls, system behaviour and general fault finding.
That matters because air conditioning is not just about fitting a unit on a wall.
A proper air conditioning installation involves careful planning, correct pipework, pressure testing, vacuuming, condensate drainage, electrical coordination, suitable unit positioning and proper commissioning.
It also helps when the installer understands how the system behaves when something is not quite right.
Our workshop setup helps us build that knowledge further, so we can offer a better service to customers across East Devon.
