We recently completed a shower tray replacement where the existing tray had been poorly fitted by previous plumbers.
This was not a straightforward “remove and refit” job. The aim was to replace the shower tray while causing as little disruption and damage as possible to the surrounding bathroom.
The existing tiles needed to stay intact, the shower enclosure channels needed to remain in place, and the new shower tray had to sit correctly below the existing tiling.
That makes this type of job much more technical than a standard shower tray installation on a fresh bathroom fit.
When a shower tray is being installed as part of a new bathroom, you normally have more control over the floor, wall finishes, tiling, enclosure position and waterproofing details.
On this job, Max had to work carefully around what was already there.
The work involved:
✅ Carefully removing the existing badly fitted shower tray
✅ Keeping disruption to a minimum
✅ Avoiding damage to the existing wall tiles
✅ Retaining the existing shower enclosure channels
✅ Making sure the new tray sat correctly below the tiles
✅ Leaving the shower area neat, secure and watertight
Max did an amazing job on this one. It was careful, precise work and exactly the sort of job where experience makes a real difference.
Poor shower tray installation can lead to movement, failed seals, leaks, damaged flooring, damaged ceilings below and unnecessary repair costs later on.
A shower tray needs to be properly supported, positioned correctly, sealed properly and installed with the surrounding enclosure and wall finishes in mind.
This job is a good reminder that bathroom work is not just about how it looks when the installer walks away. The important details are often hidden underneath, behind or around the finished surfaces.
