New underfloor heating

Underfloor heating suits extensions, kitchen-diners and bathrooms, and it’s the best match for a heat pump because it runs at low temperatures. We design the circuits for each room, lay the pipe, and fit the manifold, mixing valve and controls.

  • Extensions and new floors, laid before the screed goes down
  • Overlay systems for existing floors where there’s less height
  • Bathrooms and wet rooms, with towel rails on the same system
  • Room thermostats and zoning
  • Connection to your boiler or heat pump

We work alongside builders on extensions, including our sister company Devon Built, so the pipework goes in at the right stage.

Repairs and older systems

Older systems can keep going for years if worn parts are replaced. Common jobs:

  • Leaking or sticking mixing valves
  • Manifold leaks and repiping
  • Failed pumps and actuators
  • Rooms that won’t heat up, or floors that are too hot
  • Balancing the circuits so every room heats evenly

Flushing and health checks

Sludge builds up in underfloor pipes too, and cold patches are often the first sign. An underfloor heating flush, balance and health check is from £750 + VAT for up to 4 circuits, then £75 + VAT per extra circuit. See also power flushing.

Heat pumps and underfloor heating

If you’re thinking about a heat pump, underfloor heating on the ground floor makes it work at its best. Designing both together gets the flow temperatures right.

Underfloor heating questions

Can underfloor heating go in an existing floor?

Yes, with an overlay system, though it raises the floor slightly. In an extension or new floor, the pipes go in before the screed.

Does underfloor heating work with a combi boiler?

Yes. It needs a mixing valve and pump to run the floor at a lower temperature, which we fit at the manifold.

Is underfloor heating good with a heat pump?

It’s the best match, because it heats a large area at low temperature. That’s exactly how a heat pump runs most efficiently.

My underfloor heating isn’t warm in one room. Can you fix it?

Usually. It’s often a sticking actuator, a failed mixing valve, sludge or unbalanced circuits. We find the cause and give you a fixed price to fix it.

How much is an underfloor heating flush?

From £750 + VAT for up to 4 circuits, including balancing and a health check, then £75 + VAT per extra circuit.
