How SAFEXE started
Dean has been in the trade since 2009. He started out on LPG, general plumbing and mechanical work, and set up SAFEXE in Exmouth around 2013. For years the work was boilers, servicing, repairs and bathrooms for local homeowners and landlords.
Homes have changed since then. Better insulation, hotter summers and the move away from gas mean people now ask about air conditioning, heat pumps and ventilation as often as boilers. So we trained for it: F-Gas and REFCOM for refrigerants, BPEC low-temperature heat pumps, domestic ventilation, and manufacturer courses with Daikin, Vaillant and Ideal. Today we do the lot, and we still look after the boilers we fitted years ago.
How we work
Honest advice
We’ll tell you if a repair isn’t worth it, if a heat pump won’t suit your house, or if a cheaper fix will do. You get a written estimate before any install.
Done properly
Neat pipework, the right sizing, proper commissioning and a tidy finish. We’d rather do fewer jobs well than rush between them.
Clear prices
Our rates are published, installs come with a guide price first, and a 25% deposit books your date.

- WRAS water regulations and G3 unvented hot water
- BPEC low-temperature heat pump design
- Domestic ventilation, including MVHR commissioning
- Manufacturer training: Daikin split air conditioning and Altherma, Vaillant aroTHERM, Ideal
Heat pump design checks, MCS certification and grant paperwork are handled through our accredited MCS partner.
The team
Dean Luckhurst, director. Surveys, design, quoting, air conditioning and heat pump commissioning, and the trickier gas faults.
Max, second in command. Max has been in the trade since he was 16, around 15 years now, and spent years specialising in underfloor heating before joining us. His bathrooms are spot on, he looks after boilers, heating and plumbing, and he fits air conditioning too. Plenty of our reviews mention him by name.
Josh, engineer. Around 15 years in plumbing and heating, and our installation specialist: bathrooms, boilers and full heating systems. G3 unvented and WRAS qualified.
All gas work is carried out by Gas Safe registered engineers.
