The thermostatic mixing valve on an older underfloor heating manifold in Exeter had started leaking. We repiped part of the manifold and fitted a new valve.
What the mixing valve does
It blends hot water from the heating with cooler return water, so the floor loops get water at the right temperature. When it wears out, you get leaks around the manifold or floors that are too hot or too cold.
What we did
- Diagnosed the leaking valve.
- Altered the manifold pipework to take the new valve.
- Leak tested, then checked temperature control and circulation.
