Sometimes the smallest jobs lead to the biggest ones. A few years ago we were recommended to a customer in Pinhoe, Exeter, for a routine boiler service. Over time we did smaller jobs for them too: some bathroom work and general heating advice.
Now they’re renovating and extending the house. Devon Built, our sister building company, is doing the building work, and SAFEXE is doing all of the heating, plumbing and ventilation.
What’s planned
- A redesigned heating system with low-temperature aluminium radiators and a full repipe.
- Unvented hot water with a secondary return, so hot water arrives quickly at every tap.
- MVHR (mechanical ventilation with heat recovery) throughout.
- Plumbing for a new kitchen, two bathrooms and a shower room.
- Air conditioning for the warmer months.
Update: the heating has since changed from a boiler to an air source heat pump. The job is still under way. Follow it in our Pinhoe renovation update.
A renovation is the best time to get heating, hot water and ventilation right, because everything can be designed together before the walls and floors close up.
